Leckerman Law is dedicated to protecting the rights of those accused of Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving After Imbibing (DAI), and drunk driving related criminal offenses. Attorney Leckerman helped to change the law in New Jersey concerning witnesses who collect and test blood samples in DWI investigations. He is certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to administer the same Standardized Field Sobriety Tests used by police in DUI / DWI investigations. He has received extensive training concerning breath testing and blood testing for blood alcohol concentration (BAC) in order to discover the flaws that exist in the prosecution’s testing procedures and results.
Effectively defending DUI and DWI cases requires having technical knowledge and skills that the general criminal defense attorney usually lacks. Often, the prosecution uses the resources of new breath testing technology and forensic laboratory testing in order to prove its cases. Typically, these new technologies and laboratories go unchallenged by an attorney who is unfamiliar with the scientific intricacies involved. It takes constant education and training concerning these varied methods of breath, urine, and blood testing in order to expose the flaws of a prosecutor’s DUI / DWI case. That is why Attorney Kevin Leckerman has exclusively dedicated his legal practice to the area of DUI / DWI defense.
Attorney Leckerman has received training in the methods of forensic testing of blood and urine for the presence of drugs and alcohol, including headspace gas chromatography and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. During his career, he has defended over a thousand DUI and DWI cases involving blood and breath testing devices. The DUI / DWI breath testing devices utilized included the Breathalyzer and Alcotest 7100 MK III-C. He has also received training from the manufacturer of the Alcotest 7110 MK III-C in its operation. This DWI breath testing machine is used exclusively throughout the State of New Jersey. Additionally, Kevin is also a member of the National College for DUI Defense and other DUI / DWI attorney groups that routinely meet throughout the country in order to discuss innovations in defending DUI/DWI clients.
Gloucester City is a city in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. It is located directly across the Delaware River from Philadelphia and the Port of Philadelphia. Gloucester City was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 25, 1868, from the remaining portions of Union Township, which was then dissolved. Additional territory was annexed in 1925 from Centre Township and in 1927 from Haddon Township. The city’s name derives from Gloucester, England. Gloucester City is known for its Irish American population, which was ninth-highest in the United States by percentage in the 2000 Census. In 1623, Captain Cornelius Mey with 24 Dutch settlers landed at Gloucester Point and built Fort Nassau.
The Dutch settlers built a fort and trading post here to trade for furs with the Armewamexes Native Americans. The major reason for the location of Fort Nassau in Gloucester City was not military but because the fort could command the river and stop traders from accessing the Schuykill River. Fort Nassau existed for 25 years (1626-1651), so the Dutch settlers built and destroyed the fort. The exact location will never be known but its approximate location is at the intersection of Charles & Water Streets. The significance of the first, Dutch fortified settlement on the Delaware transcends the problem of its location.
